The Vernon County Historical Society is the officially recognized county organization for the preservation of Vernon County's historical heritage. It is governed by an Executive Board that meets monthly and operates four historical sites: The Vernon County Museum, Old St. Mary's Church Museum, the Foreaker One Room Schoolhouse, and the historic Sherry-Butt House.

The next Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting is Wednesday, May 9th at the Food Enterprise Center, 1201 North Main Street in Viroqua. Networking starts at 5:30, program begins at 6:00 pm.

“Go Nuts! Opportunities with Hickory Nuts” brings Sam Thayer, an organic fruit and nut grower and harvester of wild food products. Learn about the history of hickory as a nut crop in North America, the economic potential of hickory nut oil in the Driftless Region and how to identify hickories in Wisconsin. He will share practical details of producing hickory oil: tree management, yield, harvest times and methods, post-harvest storage, de-husking, drying, cracking and sorting, pressing, filtering, bottling, and marketing.

The club meets the second Wednesday of every month at the Food Enterprise Center starting at 6:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
