Background
Vernon Economic Development Association, Inc. (VEDA) was formed in January of 2006 by a group of community leaders and business executives from throughout Vernon County. They recognized the need to create and advance a cohesive new strategic plan to build a stronger economy for the good of all the people with a stake in the future of Vernon County, Wisconsin. It is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, funded by memberships and donations from businesses, municipalities and community members. Contributions to the organization are tax deductible.
Mission
"Our mission is to create sustainable economic growth that increases the prosperity and well-being of the people of this region, while protecting and enhancing the area's unique environment, which is the foundation of our rural lifestyle and quality of life."
Goals
- Support entrepreneurship and the development of new businesses
- Foster the retention and expansion of existing businesses
- Recruit new businesses to the county
- Provide educational forums and technical assistance to municipalities, local development organizations, and businesses
- Promote job training and education of the labor force
- Serve as a central source of assistance, information, and resources to support economic development
- Coordinate the efforts of local, county, state, and regional economic development and planning organizations towards common goals
